We had a great night of testing last Monday. Dylan Rooney successfully tested for Jr. Yellow belt while Sarah Stuve and Kayla Kenney completed their full Yellow belt tests. Finally Sarah’s older sister Alyssa (yet still very young) completed her Jr. Purple belt test. All I can say is that if these young ones are as good as they are at 7 through 11 years old, what are they going to look like in 5 and 10 years?
This is a video compilation of my recent test for Ikyu. It’s hard to condense 2 hours down to 8 minutes, but hopefully it will give you an idea of what the day was like for me. Being a small club in Louisville, Kentucky with limited number of Ukis, my preparations consisted of many hours on the road traveling to the BSK dojo in Tennessee in preparation. Along with the guys from my dojo, I must thank the BSK guys who spent several weekends away from their families to help me prepare.

This past Thursday we had a visitor make the trip to our Naples School. Professor Tom Holste from the Lake Worth Hombu took time out of his schedule to come and train with us. Everyone including the kids had gotten great input from Professor. Afterwards we had some quality time with Professor and the students over Senor Tequila’s Restaurant. We ended around 11pm since Professor Tom still had an hour and a half drive to do. We thank him and look forward to seeing him again soon!
It was a great class this morning with the kids and adults working together. Sara, who is this shy 8 year old was just throwing her opponents everywhere! Can’t wait until she’s a teenager! Dad won’t have to worry about the boys 
Alyssa, Dillan and Kayla also did great jobs.
Rob and Danny spent most of the morning polishing their techniques for the upcoming tests.

Gulf Coast Niseido Ju Jitsu Academy Now at Velocity Sports & Fitness
State-of-the-Art Fitness Facility is the Ideal Site for Self-Defense School
NAPLES, Florida – February 4
The Gulf Coast Niseido® Ju Jitsu Academy started off the new year in a new location. Formerly located at the Fleischmann Center, the self-defense school has a new home now – within the state-of-the-art Velocity Sports & Fitness facility at 11965 Collier Blvd. #12 in Naples.
Senior Instructor and 2nd Degree Black Belt Rick Parlante arranged the move at the end of last year. “We’d just outgrown Fleischmann in more ways than one,” said Sensei Rick. “It was time for us to take the school to a new level and Velocity opened its doors to us. It’s the perfect environment for our students to be motivated and inspired to achieve.”
The instructors and students of the Gulf Coast Niseido® Ju Jitsu Academy are thrilled to be training next to some of the country’s top athletes and teams at Velocity. “It’s the perfect environment to study martial arts. Gulf Coast Niseido® Ju Jitsu Students Earn New Belts
Three Students Move Up in the Rankings of Defensive Martial Art
NAPLES, Florida – February 4
Three students at the Gulf Coast Niseido Ju Jitsu Academy moved up in their respective rankings last week. Twelve year old Trevor Hobbs took the Adult Yellow Belt exam and aced it, while eight year old Alyssa Stuve passed her Junior Yellow Belt text with a flawless reciting of the Code of Bushido. Senior Instructor Rick Parlante, Sensei of the school, was also promoted. Sensei Rick is now a 2nd Degree Black Belt, or “Nidan”.
Sensei Rick Parlante continues to be “wowed” by his students, from the youngest to the oldest. “The fact that these kids not only passed their tests, but aced them, is an incredible testament to their hard work,” said the Sensei. “They are incredibly focused and they love it! The disciplines they learn in martial arts helps them excel in other areas of their lives – not just school and work, but in everyday situations and relationships with people. That’s the real payoff.”
On hand for the testing were Niseido® Ju Jitsu students and instructors from all over the East Coast. Among those in attendance were Professor Rick Riccardi, Renshi Tom Holste, and Sensei’s Dave Nissensohn, Joe Zingale, Williams Vasallo and William Perez. Also from the Hombu were Randy Smith, Carlos Ayala, Alex Penganos and Bill Bass.
