The following story about our Naples Niseido Ju Jitsu School appeared in the Naples Daily New on February 20, 2008:

 MARTIAL ARTS

Three students at the Gulf Coast Niseido® Ju Jitsu Academy moved up in their respective rankings last week. Trevor Hobbs, 12, took the Adult Yellow Belt exam and aced it, while 8-year-old Alyssa Stuve passed her Junior Yellow Belt text with a flawless reciting of the Code of Bushido. Senior instructor Rick Parlante, Sensei of the school, also was promoted. Sensei Rick is now a Second Degree Black Belt.

“The fact that these kids not only passed their tests, but aced them, is an incredible testament to their hard work,” Parlante said. “They are incredibly focused and they love it.”

Niseido Ju Jitsu is a defensive martial art. Students of Niseido Ju Jitsu learn to defend themselves against hand and grab attacks, as well as attacks with weapons such as clubs and knives. The training is designed not only to build physical strength but to teach techniques for using leverage, momentum and inertia to advantage in any given situation. Students range in age from six to 60 years old.

The Gulf Coast Niseido® Ju Jitsu Academy is located inside Velocity Sports Camp; Fitness at 11965 Collier Blvd. For more information call 595-5950 or e-mail info@NaplesJuJitsu.com.
